The Afghan Red Crescent Society and the ICRC help people in Afghanistan restore and maintain contact with family members in Afghanistan and abroad through Red Cross messages
, tracing requests and allegations of arrest among other means.
This service is provided:
- for those who have lost contact with close relatives;
- when other means of communication (telephone lines, postal system, etc.) are disrupted or not available;
- when loss of contact is due to the ongoing armed conflict, natural or man-made disasters;
or in other situations of humanitarian need, when possible.
The ICRC also helps Afghan and foreign detainees in Afghanistan restore contact with their family members.
